Tonight we said goodbye to our darling Lady. From the time Lady came into our family, and instantly took up a huge space in my heart, I dreaded the thought of this day ever coming. I remember asking the vet on our very first visit about how long the life expectancy of a Shetland was. I was thankful that our much loved furry baby would hopefully have a long lifetime with us.
We have thankfully had many years ( tori was only 4 when you came home) together. You have been loved far beyond measure. And you have loved so willingly. Your were always so intuitive and loving. You felt every emotion of those who loved you so much. Yes you barked, and bossed but always because you expected anyone coming in to be your best friend. You were such a smart little sweetheart. Kind and loving and a wonderful little mother hen! Even today watching closely at my side, as always as we saw Mara -Grace off to school on her bus, and then home again! And then of course there you were supervising Mara and Hannah riding their bikes just this afternoon!
We have been together through so much sweet Lady. I trust you knew how much you were loved. As we have watched your body failing you, each day another gift, we never saw your spirit or your will decline. Loyal and loving and sweet as can be until the very end.
Although it is so hard to imagine life without you Lady, we know you are safe and happy and whole tonight. You have been such a beautiful member of our family and you will never ever be forgotten.
After a turn for the worse early this evening, we knew the kindest thing we could do was let Lady go tonight. She thankfully went very peacefully with Kevin, Victoria and I at her side. We are thankful for the compassion shown to all of us.
We will all miss you to pieces my love. Thank you for being our baby girl. Xoxox. Sweet dreams my darling. Momma loves you Xoxo
I am so sorry for your loss...it is never easy when our fur babies cross the Rainbow Bridge.
